I help people heal their emotional wounds
and transform their lives for the better
I am Junko Adachi, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been providing mental health services since 2009.
Originally from Japan, I moved to the U.S. as a young adult 20+ years ago. While excited to experience all new country has to offer, I found it challenging to deal with some of the simple things in life when I had to deal with moments of stress in my interpersonal relationships. At one point I wanted to give up. Rather than flee back to my home country, I found myself inspired by my father to return to college and expand my education.
After graduating with a B.A. in Psychology from University of California at Berkeley, I worked as a research assistant under Dr. Levenson. There I had the opportunity to work closely with families of dementia patients. From this experience I had found my passion, my life’s calling and I went on to get a Master’s Degree in Counseling from San Francisco University, specialized in Marriage and Family Therapy. I had worked with several non-profit organizations providing counseling to people of diverse backgrounds dealing with abuse, acculturation process, addiction, anger management, depression, grief/loss, trauma, and multigenerational conflicts.
My personal acculturation process has taught me uniquely competent to assist individuals experiencing stress adapting to life in unfamiliar surroundings and I am truly compassionate about helping people. Now I'm back in my home town, providing mental services to California residents remotely and to Japanese people locally.
